While self-diagnosis is risky, and there's much more to diagnosis than blood work, many people would like to know more about what their horse's blood tests mean than the “low” or “high” designation that comes with the report! The purpose of this course is to help you understand when and why blood work is indicated, what each of the numbers means, and the information this gives you. We will discuss the most commonly performed tests of CBC (complete blood count) and blood chemistries, as well as serology, specialized tests and patterns seen with common conditions. Real cases will be used as examples. A private io group is set up for participants, for questions and discussions. Participants will be welcome to post any of their own test results for comments and discussion at any time, as long as they pertain to areas that are currently being covered or were covered in earlier weeks.
