Basics of Reading Radiographs

The purpose of this course is to give you enough basic information on reading radiographs that you will be able to understand what your veterinarian is seeing and describing.  The advantages as well as limitations will be thoroughly discussed. We will cover the standard views taken of each area, and when/why other views are taken. The radiographic anatomy section of each week will orient you so that you can translate what is seen on the film to its location inside the horse. You will learn how to take a systematic approach to evaluating an X-ray, learn first what is normal, then what changes you will see with various problems.

The course will run for 10 weeks and will have help online using the io group resources. The class materials will be placed into the files section of the group. You can download and read these at your convenience. A quiz is provided at the end of each week's material for you to review your understanding of the material. There will be no formal tests except for a final exam for those taking the course for credit. Questions or points for discussion can be placed in the messages section of the group at any time.
