Cushing's and Insulin Resistance

INTRODUCTION

The purpose of this course is to describe the difference between obesity, insulin resistance and Cushing's disease. A section will also be devoted to laminitis. You will not need any medical background, but by the end you will be able to understand the terms used in describing these conditions, their laboratory tests and their treatments. Treatments will be covered in detail, as well as things that can influence your horse's condition, like stress, exercise, weather, pregnancy, etc.

This is a NO PRESSURE course. I'll put a quiz at the end of each section but this will not be graded or turned in. It's for your use only. Read the materials at your convenience. Ask questions about any portion of the material at any time during the course.

Before the course starts, I'll open a group on Yahoo that will be restricted to the course members. That group will be used for answering questions, and having discussions.
